Over in the United States, the most off-road Ranger you can buy isn’t the Raptor. The Ford Motor Company offers the FX4 and FX2 packages, but the off-road suspension pales in comparison to the Fox suspension kit from Roush.
Priced at $1,410 and compatible with both 2WD and 4WD models, the “2019-2020 Ranger ROUSH Fox Suspension Kit” promises zero to two inches of leveling for the front axle. The increased ride height accommodates larger wheels and tires, and better still, the kit is a bolt-on affair that requires no modifications at all.
Roush lists the installation’s difficulty as “intermediate,” taking approximately four hours with garage tools. As for the contents, that bundle of hard-earned cash buys you adjustable coil-over shocks with matched coil springs, aluminum body shocks with internal floating pistons, as well as a set of mud guards/roost guards.
Said to unleash the Ranger’s “maximum potential off-road,” the kit provides “a more aggressive stance to complement the improved on- and off-road prowess.” Made from CNC-machined 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the shocks are rust-proof and the upper mount has a bushing that promises to reduce noise and vibration.
What is indeed curious about the Roush Fox suspension upgrade is that the American tuner doesn’t feature the Ranger in its vehicle lineup. Only the F-150, F-Series Super Duty, and the Mustang are available in turnkey form. The parts catalog, on the other hand, has a few more goodies worthy of your attention.
In addition to a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust upgrade, Roush offers the 2.3-liter EcoBoost Performance Pac - Level 2 at $1,830 including shipping. This kit “provides increases of 47 RWHP at 3,750 rpm” calibrated for 93-octane dinosaur juice, and better still, the upgrades in question are 50-state emissions legal.
For anything higher than these specs, Hennessey is much obliged to sell you the 350-hp Ranger VelociRaptor at $19,950 or $64,950 including the donor truck.
