Rossi Would Accept Team Orders for Lorenzo

Although at one point in the championship it seemed rather obvious that Jorge Lorenzo would cruise to his maiden MotoGP title in 2010, Dani Pedrosa’s back-to-back wins at Indianapolis and Misano have put the Honda rider right back into title contention. Under the circumstances, Lorenzo might need Valentino Rossi’s help for the final races of the season.

And even if the Doctor reckons his relationship with his teammate is not all smiles, he made It very clear that should Yamaha ask him – through team orders – to help Lorenzo for the title, he would do it.

My relationship with Dani is better, but Jorge deserves to win. Should Yamaha ask me to help him, I'll do it no problem,” said Rossi in a recent interview with Italy’s Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by Autosport.

Needless to say, one thing that made Rossi feel this way is that he hopes to remain on good terms with his team, as he wants to be released by Yamaha immediately after the last round of the 2010 season, so he could join his new team Ducati. Yamaha have recently hinted that they may keep Rossi until the end of the calendar year, which could produce a blow in Rossi’s preparations for the 2011 season.

Other than that, there’s little Rossi can do in the 2010 season anyway, due to the injuries he picked up earlier this year. He also missed a few races in the mid-season and reckoned it’s unlikely he’ll win a race this year anyway.

Since my return, I've gone well at the Sachsenring and (been) very strong at Misano, but the other times I've never been able to be at the front. With the shoulder in this condition, this is where I'm at. If I'm not in too much pain, I can do some good races. Of course, if I keep on going this way it's hard to win again,” concluded Rossi.
