Rossi Struggles with Shoulder Pain in Qatar Test

Bad news for Valentino Rossi only a few days before the start of the 2011 MotoGP season. During the second and last day of testing in Qatar on Tuesday, the Italian experienced his second crash of the week and finished the action with only the 13th best time of the pack. More importantly though, the Doctor told the media that his injured shoulder is once again troubling him in the saddle of his Desmosedici GP11.

Rossi injured his shoulder last year, during a motocross incident in April, and had ridden with the pain through the entire 2010 campaign. Only this winter he got to undergo surgery, but ever since he has been struggling with the pain, as his shoulder is yet to be fully healed.

I'd say that today was pretty challenging: the weather conditions were much tougher than yesterday, and I had another crash when I slipped on a white line,” said Rossi, who also crashed his GP11 on Monday night, therefore making today's incident his second in a row under artificial lights at Losail.

The real problem was that at about an hour and a half from the finish, I started to lose strength in my shoulder, and I just couldn't push anymore. It's a shame, because I had just done my best time, and I may have been able to drop it a little more from there,” he added.

A couple of weeks back, Rossi had told the media that the pain in his shoulder that he's struggling with has a direct impact on his lap times, dropping it half a second. However, looking forward to the new season, the 7-time world champion believes Ducati is in a good position and said he'll try to resolve his shoulder injuries before the season opener.

Between now and Thursday, I'll do some light exercise and have it massaged, and then we'll see,” he said.
