Ross Brawn Denies Mercedes GP Selling Reports

Ross Brawn and Mercedes have both stopped short from confirming the latest sellout rumors that have been going around in the media in recent days.

Some German media suggested recently that Brawn is on the verge of selling out his remaining 24.9 percent share in the Brackley based organization to German carmaker Daimler AG and its Abu Dhabi shareholder in the F1 team, AABAR.

Back in 2009, when Mercedes and AABAR bought the Brawn GP team to set up its own works organization in F1, they only purchased 75.1 percent of the team. According to reports, the former owner of the Brawn GP team is in advanced discussions to sell the remaining share in the squad to Merc by the season opening round in Bahrain.

However, talking to Formula 1's official website on Wednesday, Brawn insisted that all the latest reports on the subject are nothing but allegations and that he refuses to issue any comments until something will have been decided.

That's not something I am going to comment on,” he insisted.

Additionally, a spokesman for Mercedes also denied the rumors, although his answer did hide a hint that this whole story has some truth to it.

We will only inform at a given time when there are facts,” he said, according to the GMM news agency.

The same media reported that even if Brawn will no longer hold a stake in the team, he will continue to head Mercedes' F1 operations for as long as it will be based in the UK.
