Rosberg Pins Championship Hopes on Brawn's Efforts

Having joined Mercedes GP at the end of last season, German driver Nico Rosberg hoped for a fruitful campaign in 2010. What he get in return was drive in the shadow of 7-time world champion Michael Schumacher (whom he beat constantly) and score a few podiums. However, as he signed a 3-year deal with the German carmaker, he continues to pin his championship hopes on team principal Ross Brawn.

Rosberg has no doubt that eventually his team will get to where it deserves, although he did express doubts that it will make him a title contender from as early as next season. What he is certain of, however, is the fact that Brawn will know how to put all the right pieces together in order to make the Brackley based team a winning organization once again.

I think we have the best people, starting off with Ross, so I have a lot of confidence that we'll get there. It's just that Ross's process hasn't finished yet, and he's learning along the way also, I think,” said Rosberg in a recent interview with British magazine Autosport.

He probably learned a lot last year - and especially this year – about where the weaknesses are in the organisation. So he's still in the process of making a lot of changes and getting the best out of every individual, getting the people to work together well, things like that.”

There's been a lot of change in the team. The last three years it's been a huge rollercoaster. It's just going to take some time to get it to work as everybody wants,” he added.

Rosberg, seen by former GP team owner Eddie Jordan as a potential contender for the world title in 2011, was ranked 7th at the end of the 2010 campaign, only 2 points from breaking the Red Bull-Ferrari-McLaren trio at the top of the drivers' classification (close to beating Felipe Massa for 6th place).
