Rosberg: Me and Schumacher Would Be a Super Lineup

Nico Rosberg revealed that he would love to line up alongside Michael Schumacher in the Mercedes GP's drivers lineup for the 2010 season. The German driver was confirmed by Ross Brawn and Nick Fry last month, shortly after Jenson Button announced his signing with McLaren Mercedes.

Ever since that move, people have been rumoring about Schumacher's potential return to the series with the Stuttgart based manufacturer. With one position still open in the team – as Rubens Barrichello was already out to Williams a few days after the season finale at Abu Dhabi – the 40-year old ace was consistently linked with a 2010 drive.

It's really pointless to make a summary of all those allegations, but lately more and more information surfaced about a potential return of the 7-time world champion. First of all, he met with his manager Willi Weber after his vacation in the US, then his father Rolf told the media that his son is training like crazy. “He's not doing that for nothing,” he told the Cologne daily Express.

Now Nico Rosberg is trying to prepare himself for a potential dream-team lineup in 2010, revealing that it would be a super news if Schu were to decide to make an F1 return with Mercedes GP.

It would be a very interesting challenge, and a super lineup,” Rosberg was quoted as saying to Swiss specialist publication Motorsport Aktuell on Tuesday.

If Schumacher will sign a deal with Mercedes – the German officials stated more than once that they'd like Schu at Mercedes under any role, not only as a race driver – the Stuttgart manufacturer will have an all-German lineup for the first time in history of their participation in F1. That prospect would be open even if Schu will not want to make the 2010 grid, as Mercedes' second choice seems to be another German driver Nick Heidfeld.

Either way, Mercedes' motorsport director Norbet Haug said an announcement about the lineup will not be made in the upcoming few days, but by Christmas time.
