Rosberg Hits Back at Barrichello's Comments

Nico Rosberg did not take too long answer Rubens Barrichello for his piece of advice earlier this week. And it wasn't exactly a thank you note from the German driver, as Rosberg insisted he has no problem being Michael Schumacher's teammate at Mercedes GP.

After the first day of testing, in which Rosberg was given the first shot at trying out the new Mercedes W01, Schumacher finished the day higher on the timing reports than the German driver. When asked by the reporters what would be a decent advice for Rosberg after the first day of testing, Schu's former teammate Rubens Barrichello said “yes, get out of there!”

However, while admitting that Schumacher's great form on Monday has put him to thinking, Rosberg insisted that there's no place he'd rather be right now than at Mercedes. As far as he's concerned, this is a win-win situation anyway, as he'll constantly have to improve himself in order to match his teammate in the championship.

“Knowing what I know and seeing how fast Michael went today, it's going to be a tough job. (...) I am confident from last year that I can do well. I don't have a problem. It's going to be challenge, of course, because I'm up against one of the greatest of all time,” said Rosberg, according to Autosport.

Rosberg added, however, that he understands where Barrichello's comments come from, as the Brazilian has been a lieutenant for Schumacher for no less than 6 years at Ferrari.

From his point of view, he was beaten for six years so maybe from him it doesn't surprise me that he says that,” added the German driver, who completed more than 110 laps in the Mercedes W01 yesterday, recording the 4th best time of the day.
