Besides the fact that he's the President of Romania, Traian Basescu is a very lucky guy. Mostly because some of his wishes are quickly coming true, at least when it comes to the next car he'll drive.
In other words, all the other Dacia fans (no pun intended) must stay in line because Traian Basescu will receive the first ever Dacia Duster SUV. And by that, we mean that the first unit that is rolled off the assembly lines will be handed over to Mr. Basescu, who's already familiar to the feeling you get when you're driving a Dacia. If there is one...
Anyway, Dacia will provide the Duster to Romania's President in April, but the last touches are yet to be brought to the car. According to various sources, the Dacia representatives who talked to Basescu initially intended to paint the car in black but it appears that Mr. President will opt for red. Awkward or not, it appears that he's eager to get behind the wheel of a Duster as he first requested one in September, when no official details where known.
The car won't be paid by the Romanian presidential administration, so Traian Basescu will cover all the costs of the acquisition. Although we expect Dacia to offer the Duster as a gift, Basescu will most likely choose the top-of-the-line model with 4x4 configuration, as he's well known as a mountain trip lover.
For the sake of comparison. Traian Basescu is currently driving another Dacia, the Logan, the most popular model ever sold by Renault's Romanian brand. Before the Logan, he owned a Daewoo Matiz and a blue Volkswagen Golf.
