Following the example set by the Italian Carabinieri and UK Police, their Romanian counterparts took delivery of a fresh Evora S, which means the boy racers of the Eastern European country will be in some serious trouble.
The Police-livered sportscar with racing credentials was unveiled today during an official presentation at the official Lotus showroom in Otopeni, near the capital of Bucharest. His Excellency Martin Harris, Great Britain’s Ambasador in Bucharest, as well as a number of other representatives from the Police and Ministery of Internal Affairs were present, together with Ion Bazac, the president of the official Lotus importer, and the carmaker’s regional sales chief, Christopher Nicoll.
The Evora S has been offered free of charge by the sportscar maker for a limited period of two years. It will reportedly be used to patrol sections of particularly high risk.
“Forza Rossa wants, together with the sale of Lotus models, to promote road safety, as well as a new automotive culture in Romania. The company wants to play an active role in fighting accidents and delinquencies on the road. We wish to show that the passion for cars car be lived to its fullest in safety, responsibility and while following the law,” commented Ion Bazac, the president of Forza Rossa, official Lotus representative in Romania.
The Lotus Evora S is the fastest model that’s currently being produced by the Hethel factory in the UK. It makes use of a mid-mounted 3.5-liter engine which develops 350 horsepower at 7,000 rpm. The figure translates to a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 280 km/h.
