A Youtube prankster might not qualify as a celebrity in your book. But the vlog where Roman Atwood talks about the Corvette he bought for his father got over four million views in two days. There are many famous singers who wish for that kind of attention!
I didn't know very much about Roman and his personal life before writing this story, so I had to do a lot of reading and checking. Thankfully, his vlogs have put everything out there for the world to enjoy, and they are even more popular than the pranks that made him famous.
Right now, the prankster is either 73rd or 64th in the top of Youtube channels, depending on how you look at it. That means he matches Avicii and gets more views than Shakira, Demi Lovato or Wiz Khalifa.
I watched a video that seems to suggest Roman makes around $650,000 a year from vlogs and pranks. And it did take tax, ad block, and other deduction into consideration. Knowing that, the fact that he bought a Corvette for his father's birthday doesn't seem quite as outlandish.
Roman's family has always been a central part of his channel. So it's only natural that he wants to give back now that he is rolling it in. I know that when I was in a dark place, I blamed my parents for everything. But once the fog cleared, I realized that I wouldn't be the same person without them.
Looking at this video, we believe that owning a Corvette is not a middle-age crisis thing. Petrolheads want one their entire lives, but it takes them a long time to be able to afford one. And there's never been a better Corvette than the C7 Stingray.
Rather than buy one himself, Roman drives to the dealership and tells dad to pick one out himself, "the only fancy-cool car I would ever imagine buying." And since this is a spur of the moment thing, they end up buying a red Z06 with 650 horsepower and ask the dealer to install black wheels.
