Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Wrapped in Black Velvet Spotted in London

Little did we know about velvet wraps two years ago when we first saw the unexpected driving through the upper-class London sites. Yes, it was a black Ferrari 599 GTB, only it was as smooth as a Birman cat’s fur. We knew it existed, but we never thought this peculiar custom feature will become an obsessive habit among tuning shops.

Yet, it’s more like the day, the wrap in present times. Less than a week ago we were once again writing about a weird finish involving a Land Rover Discovery cover with an ugly purple Velvet wrap. The monstrosity was sighted recently on the streets of Manchester, which makes us assume it’s no more a Londonese type of thing, it managed to go viral throughout the whole Kingdom.

Just when we thought we can catch a breath and look into that beautiful Ferrari 488 GTB imagined as a base model, our subscribe list on YouTube kicks in. The Rolls-Royce Drophead is obviously a huge limousine designed for the well-heeled folks, a luxury living-room-on wheels which unfortunately you associate with rappers nowadays. So we get all the custom fever, but black velvet, really?

The car was spotted by auto enthusiast Shmee on the streets of London (of course) and as we’d expect, the cover was a constant eye-catcher. In fact, you can see how passers-by can’t help themselves from touching the limousine. Since we’re always looking to be 100% honest with you people, we have to admit it’s not the first Rolls as such we’ve spotted.

Last May, there was this Phantom Coupe folks over at Raccoon Vehicle Wrapping coated with a red-on-black velvet finish. At least that one was specially customized in this crazy manner because it was about to participate in the Gumball 3000 rally...
