Vehicles wearing the Spirit of Ecstasy on their radiators are not exactly a common site in dyno locations, but we are here today to talk about one of the exceptions. To be more specific, we have a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe that has received an ECU upgrade.
The development comes from the US, where VF Engineering and Hex Tuning strapped a Drophead Coupe to a Mustang MD500-AWD chassis dyno. You can see the result of their work in the gallery below, where they show the power and torque bands for the Ghost’s N74B66 twin-turbo V12 (BMW) engine.
While the gains at the top may not seem all that important, we have to note that there are a lot of other sides that have been upgraded. Here’s what the companies claim: The top speed limiter was removed and combined with refined ignition, fuel and camshaft calibration. Throttle response and drivers feedback during downshift events for overtaking are most noticeably enhanced. Engine response is further enhanced when using higher octane as recommended by Rolls Royce.”
