Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe Wrapped in Velvet and Red Chrome

Seeing any car wrapped in velvet is something special, but a Rolls Royce… well, we've frankly never seen one of those before. The Phantom Coupe has been specially customized in this crazy manner because it's getting ready to participate in the Gumball 3000 rally the biggest event in the hooning playboy calendar for 2014.

Going from boring British to ballistic-bombastic in one wrap is no easy task. Covering cars in velvet vinyl is pretty tricky because the material doesn't stretch and to top it all off, this one has a coat of red chrome on the hood and roof.

Responsible for this wonderfully eccentric project is Raccoon Vehicle Wrapping, the official branding partner of the Gumball. Last year, they made dozens of supercars bright chrome and for 2014, they've thought of a different theme: Miami Vice.

Think of neon lights, girls in really short dresses and silk shirts with gold buttons – yeah, you've got the right mental state to appreciate a black velvet ultra-luxury car with a grille that looks like Iron Man's suit.

Supercar rallies are something special, something only a select group of people can participate in: rich, young and extremely passionate about cars. The biggest event of this type in 2014 is of course the Gumball 3000, going transcontinental from Miami to Ibiza. The venue is going to bring together some amazing cars like this special Rolls and a neon-livered Ferrari F12 we showed in March.
