The Spirit of Ecstasy or Flying Lady hood ornament is as much a part of Rolls Royce history as walnut is for the construction of the dashboard. You simply cannot have a Roller without its Flying Lady, and while it may be ostentatious and in your face, it is an integral part of the visual side of having the experience of owning such a luxurious barge.
Now, though, Rolls Royce have decided to spice things up a bit, and are now offering three distinct, and distinctly-different hood ornaments, aside from the regular polished steel one. The first is made from polycarbonate, it is translucent, and illuminated.

It is virtually the same as the one seen on the 101EX concept, which was shown at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show. Also, for those who want something equally flashy, but of a more classic approach, Rolls is now also offering either a gold plated ornament, or one made entirely out of sterling silver.

Considering all of this, it`s good that they implemented the safety system, which hides the ornament inside the grille, if someone pulls on it and tries to steal it.
