Rumor has it that British automaker Rolls-Royce is considering expanding its lineup with two new models by 2016.
According to Germany’s Autobild, Rolls-Royce could introduce a convertible based on the recently-launched Wraith Coupe, a piece of information that, to be honest, is not that surprising. Reportedly set to enter production in 2015, the convertible would be powered by the company’s twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 engine.
Things become a lot more interesting as Autobild claims the luxury automaker is mulling either a crossover SUV based on the 2014 BMW X5 or a BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo-like model based on the next generation BMW 7-Series. If approved by Rolls-Royce, the BMW underpinned vehicle would be launched as soon as 2016.
Last month, the British manufacturer said it has no plans to build an SUV, but reiterated its “never say never to anything” philosophy.
