Almost three weeks ago we were telling you about a report claiming that Rolls-Royce is mulling a convertible edition for their new Wraith fastback coupe. It looks like the Germans were right, as the British automaker recently confirmed plans for such a vehicle.
Speaking at the UK unveiling of the Wraith, Rolls-Royce’s CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos revealed that the new car’s “design certainly lends itself to a drophead coupe, and I think that will be the next variant”. However, the Wraith convertible won’t hit the showrooms any time soon, as a new version of the luxury automobile would take a couple of years to be developed and readied for production, Muller-Otvos added.

In addition, the company’s representative said that Rolls-Royce isn’t considering making an SUV, despite recent rumors and reports: “We have no plans to produce an SUV, definitely not, the next thing is drophead Wraith but bespoke orders are the priority”.

Finally, he said that Rolls-Royce is already thinking about the next-generation Phantom, which will come “three years from now” with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.
