Things couldn't go better for luxury car manufacturer Rolls Royce in India as the company can't even meet the demand for new vehicles, brand officials revealed in a statement. And of course, Rolls Royce is already looking into the possibility to expand its Indian operations, with several plans currently under consideration.
"We couldn't keep up with the demand - by the end of last year, we had more orders than we were able to supply," Torsten Muller Otvos, Global chief executive of Rolls Royce Motor Cars, was quoted as saying by the Economic Times. "We're looking at expanding to Bangalore, and Hyderabad," added Jolyon Nash, Director Sales and Marketing.
The fact that sales are going so well in India isn't surprising at all for Rolls Royce as the company predicted that this particular market will grow bigger ever since 2009. Furthermore, Rolls Royce said at that time that India is very likely to become one of the company's top markets in a 10-year timeframe, hinting that more investments are likely to be made in the local production facilities.
"We believe India will be the single most important market for Rolls Royce in the next 5-10 years," said Tom Purves, the chief executive of the company, back in 2009. "We're open-minded, and being within the BMW group network, we have access to all the purchasing power the group has and engineering opportunity that exists."
At this time, the Ghost is the most popular vehicle Rolls Royce currently sells in the country and company officials say that Indians are showing an increasing appetite for unique personalization of the vehicles they bought. "The bespoke service is very popular in India," Nash explained in a statement.
