Rolls Royce today announced that it has appointed a new design director, in the person of Giles Taylor, who will be grabbing the “RR” branded drawing board starting from July 2012.
Those of you who are worried that the sculpted lines of the Spirit of Ecstasy bearers might be affected really have no reason to panic. We have to tell you that the 44-year old Brit comes with a CV that includes 10 years as an executive designer in the British car industry. To be more precise, Taylor spent a decade penning cars at Jaguar.
Taylor, who joined Rolls Royce in April last year as Head of Exterior Design, replaces Ian Cameron, which has been at the helm of Rolls Royce design since 1999. Cameron, the man responsible for the design of the Phantom and Ghost models, will still play a role withing the BMW Group until he reaches his retirement age in April 2013.
Our say: judging by the way he looks at the camera in the adjacent image, we’re going to receive some pretty mean Rolls Royce metal in the future.
