Roger Federer Puts 2012 SLS AMG Roadster Through Its Paces

One of the greatest players the tennis game has ever seen is currently trying to cope with his loss against Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros final yesterday, but at least he has one thing to ease the pain: the Swiss tennis star has recently taken the new 2012 SLS AMG Roadster for a spin.

In fact, this video was made during filming on the commercial for the new German open-top sports car, with all the action taking place in the deserts of Dubai.

All this happened in March, but the video couldn’t be released until now due to security reasons, as the SLS AMG Roadster has been officially unveiled just one week ago.

Federer makes a few comments about the car in the video, saying it’s “wonderful” and brings “absolute pleasure” and “exhilarated feeling”. Although some might say that being paid by Mercedes-Benz since 2008, is natural that he would say such words.

But let’s see what Federer has enjoyed from: the SLS AMG Roadster is powered by a 6.3 liter V8 engine that produces 563bhp and with 650 Nm (480 lb.ft) of torque. The engine is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which enables the car to accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 317 km/h (197 mph).

"This is one of the cars of all time favorites. I love it," Federer says at the end of the video. Could you blame him?

Enjoying an exclusive test drive with the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster don’t gain him any ATP points, but at least he gets it to rub it to Nadal’s face, as the Spaniard has only been Kia’s ambassador until this year.
