Roger Dubuis is an official partner of the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed, so what better way to unveil a brand-new timepiece than during this prestigious automotive event? Dubbed the Excalibur Spider Huracan Monobalancier (MB), this spectacular watch boasts an impressive mix of hyper materials and hyper mechanics.
This new 45 mm watch is said to reflect the DNA of Lamborghini Squadra Corse and is powered by an automatic RD630 caliber. Visually, it’s clearly inspired by the Huracan GT3 EVO2 – just look at that honeycomb motif.
Other highlights include the twin barrels and tilted balance wheel, skeletonized movement, a crown inspired by the supercar’s racing nuts, plus an upper caliber strut-bar bridge, reminiscent of what you’d see inside the Huracan’s engine bay.
In terms of materials, the Excalibur Spider Huracan MB’s case, bezel and crown were all crafted from pure white Mineral Composite Fiber (MCF), further elevated with embellishments in green, intense red and electrifying yellow – again in honor of the GT3 EVO2.
“The 100% integrated Manufacture found that engineering silica via a Sheet Molding Compound (SMC) process could produce a material 13% lighter than SMC carbon. Not only does this lightness make it extremely comfortable to wear on the wrist, it also enables the creation of intricate designs thanks to a sturdy structure.”
Similar colors to the ones described above can be found on the white rubber strap, which features green calf leather perforated with tiny holes in order to showcase the red beneath. Last but not least, we got the red contrast stitching plus a Quick Release System – the latter helps make this a properly versatile watch.
The Roger Dubuis Excalibur Spider Huracan MB is reserved for a select few only and limited to 88 pieces in total. This makes perfect sense because some watches really benefit from being more exclusive.
