SAIC's (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) Roewe 350 hatchback will be assembled in both China and Great Britain (at the Longbridge production site), as autocar reports.

The first units of the car were assembled In China on March 17, at the company’s Pukou factory, but the exact details of the vehicle’s UK production have not been released yet.

The Longbridge site currently serves as a research and development center for SAIC, while assembling the MG6 hatchback and the MG TF sports car.

When the 350 will be introduced to the market, it will use a 1.5 liter petrol engine featuring variable valve timing that produces 105 hp and 135 Nm of torque. This will be matted to a five speed manual gearbox. Rumors show that the car will also receive a turbocharged 1.5 liter unit after it goes on sale.

The car measures 4,520mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and is 1,500 mm tall. It has made its world premiere at the Beijing Auto Show, on March 23.The 350 is expected to retail for a price between $10,250 and $19,000 (prices for the Chinese market) and will be sold in Europe through the MG and Rover dealer networks.

The model was previewed by the Roewe N1 concept, presented at last year’s Shanghai Auto Show. It will feature the Roewe 350 DVD/GPS system that uses 3G technology and Google’s Android system. This will allow users to receive real-time traffic reports and browse the web. SAIC might offer a wide range of applications for the system after it is introduced. The company has big plans for the 350 model, as it will use it to showcase its future image.
