Most rock'n'roll fans know who Rod Stewart is. For those who don't, he's a British singer-songwriter that sold over 100 million records worldwide, had 6 consecutive #1 albums and released a whopping 62 hit singles throughout his career. So when Rod the Mod's Ferrari F40 heads to auction, you'd better prepare a suitcase full of $$$ 'cause this car won't come cheap.
Slated to go under the hammer at the Auctions America Burbank Sale at the end of July, the Ferrari supercar in question is not only one of the best cared for F40s around, but it has been driven by Stewart and other owners from 1990 to 2008 only in the state of California, so you don't have to worry about rust issues with the chassis. Furthermore, the odometer shows 7,900 miles.

Despite its pristine condition and famous original owner, the car in question was the last Ferrari model developed with the blessing of "Il Commendatore" Enzo Ferrari. Some call it the last proper Ferrari; others herald it as being the purest supercar ever made. Nevertheless, when it was launched, the F40 was the world's fastest street legal production car, stealing the record from the then groundbreaking Porsche 959.

Registering a 201.4 mph (324 km/h) top speed, the F40 was named so in celebration of the Scuderia's 40th anniversary. Being a limited production model, only 1,311 units have been produced, with only 213 destined for the United States of America. Back in 1987, it held a suggested retail price of $400,000 or over $850k in today's money.

So how much to you think this bad boy is estimated to fetch at Auctions America's event? Taking into account it has been owned by one of the world's biggest rockstars and it presents itself in such good condition, the $1 to $1.3 million estimate seems a pretty hard offer to resist for any enthusiast of the Prancing Horse and rocker alike.
