By now, any car aficionado who has spent some time online is familiar with the Rocket Bunny kits. These widebody goodies completely transform the appearance of a machine while screaming JDM. And, when they happen to be fitted to a car that can be considered a symbol of Japanese motoring, the excitement level goes through the roof.
Case in point with the Mazda RX-8 you're looking at, with this rotary animal looking like it's ready to populate one's dreams for quite a while, at least if we're talking about those who lust for cars built in that part of the world.

Sure, we're talking about a rendering, not the real deal, but this isn't a digital artist's fantasy. Instead, the pixel play we have here comes from Tra Kioto, the company that builds these kits.

So yes, we can expect Kei Miura, the man behind the label, to be preparing a set of goodies for the RX-8.

Speaking of Wankel-powered contraptions, the RX-8 remains the last member of the club to date. Mazda has repeatedly delayed the introduction of a new Wankel engine, explaining that this has to meet certain efficiency levels before making it to the market - after all, the RX-8 was put to sleep due to its heart not meeting emission regulations.

Meanwhile, the automaker is focusing on its HCCI engine. And, as much as we love rotary machines and their mean soundtrack, we have to admit that the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition mill sounds like an even more interesting proposal.

How could one not be captivated by the benefits of such an engine? We're talking about a form of combustion that, as with diesel motors, doesn't require spark. However, while being considerably cleaner than the nitrous oxide-affected diesels, this combustion cycle promises to be more efficient than the traditional ones used by gas powerplants. Mazda plans to bring its HCCI engine into showrooms in 2019.
