At the event, the designer himself drove the Paceman down the magenta carpet, with his lovely wife Eva on the passenger seat. His creation was sold at an auction for the amazing sum of €150,000 ($194,000), just a couple of hours before its premiere, during the AIDS solidarity gala.

The entire proceeds will go to projects helping to combat HIV/AIDS. Over the years, 13 MINIs were sold in such events, raising more than €500,000 ($645,000) for this charitable endeavor.

“We are very pleased that the one-off MINI has sold for a record price and can thus make a special contribution to projects dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS. The charity principle is an important part of the MINI brand, which enjoys a unique platform through this partnership with the Life Ball,” said Ralf Schepull, Head of MINI Brand Communications.
