We’re not sure if you had the chance to watch the latest Avengers installment, but since we did we’d like to point out that we found Robert Downey Jr.’s role as Iron Man rather dull this time. Also, the trick he does close to the end of the film, calling the Audi R8 with the car’s key, isn’t actually possible, by the way. Not with this car, anyway.
We did, however, enjoy seeing Iron Man getting the proper moves with the supercar Audi enhanced with a V10. As we found when we saw it up close, at the Geneva Motor Show 2015, the new R8 represents a new era where German automakers are the kings of the supercar market.
After all, handling that 5.2-liter FSI engine that carefully sits under all that carbon fiber is not just any drive. We’re talking about a little beast sporting 610 horsepower, just like its Italian competitor, the Huracan, does. You see, that is why you need a proper stuntman if you want those crazy car chasing, smashing, exploding scenes Hollywood to work out properly.
We’re sorry to disappoint all those Iron Man maniacs out there, but it’s not the first time Robert Downey Jr. is being replaced with a professional driver that actually knows how to drive a car that way.
According to this interview Audi recently released, Hollywood stunt driver Glenn Foster worked on countless film productions such as James Bond - Quantum of Solace, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
As to impersonating the actor that topped the Forbes list of Hollywood’s highest-paid actors with an estimated $75 million in earnings between June 2012 and June 2013, Foster covered the actor’s Marvel roles impeccable.
Nevertheless, we’re not here to spoil the video for you, so we can’t but wish you to enjoy the ride. This guy sure does, every time.
