Roadhouse Music Is Better On an Indian Motorcycle - Gil Edwards Bought a Chief V

You might not have heard about Gil Edwards and The Vintage Chiefs, but their music, best described as “Roadhouse”, goes quite well with cruiser motorcycles and bike life in general. Speaking of which, the lead singer switched to an Indian Chief Vintage and he loves it.

Gil is celebrating 50 years of musical career with his new Indian cruiser, as well as the rest of his band, The Vintage Chiefs, who all ride one in between concerts in Norway.

“I truly was amazed and I love it [i.e. the Indian Chief Vintage],” Gil said. “The engine has the most impressive torque and you can ride comfortably over longest distances. When I ride it in on twisty roads, I don’t feel like I have to slow down for the corners, but instead, I can push it in a bit more and twist the throttle. So, the Harley-Davidson I had is for sale now."

He bought the new bike earlier this year, considering it would be an ideal way to get to gigs in the detriment of his previous Harley-Davidson. Finished in a nice red over black paint scheme, the Chief Vintage is powered by a ThunderStroke 111 engine putting out 119 lb-ft (161 Nm) of toque as low as 3,000 rpm.

Gil is actually from Medford, Oregon, USA, but life took him to establish in Norway, Europe, after signing a deal with Norwegian band The Knuckleheads 35 years ago. When he was young, his dad owned a four-cylinder Indian, while his uncle had a Harley-Davidson and they were both constantly discussing over which bike was the best every time they met.

Edwards’ first motorcycle was actually a 200cc Triumph Tiger Cub, which was followed by a BSA Victor. Only after that he got into big, heavy, American steel like the previous Harley-Davidson and the current Indian Chief.
