Road-Legal Mercedes-AMG GT RR Imagined as Uber-Exclusive SLS AMG-Engined Model

Not long after Mercedes-AMG introduced the GT, we all found out the sportscar would follow the example of the Porsche 911, whose line-up can go past 20 models at certain points in the machine's life cycle.

So far, the standard mode, if we may call the GT that, has been accompanied by the S version and, as of last week, the Godzilla fanboys' nightmare, namely the GT R.

Well, here we are, showing you the Mercedes-AMG GT RR. This is obviously a rendering, with the digitally manipulated image coming from Javier Oquendo Design.

While the German automaker has already gifted us with a GT3 model that is the track confined incarnation of the beast - the model envisioned here could be the road-legal take on the circuit monster. The ground clearance seen here might be an issue, but we're sure Afflaterbach engineers could deliver an active ride height system that would solve such issues.

As many of you have noticed, the latest trend in the supercar world is to develop a racecar based on a street model and then reverse the process by coming up with a road-legal version of the racer.

While the idea is far from a new one, most of the credit for its recent popularity boost goes to Lamborghini (think: Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale and Gallardo Squadra Corse), as well as Mclaren and its road-legal P1 GTR (we're not really sure where the P1 LM sits in this equation).

Returning to the pixel rearrangement above, a street-legal GT RR should retain the SLS AMG-borrowed naturally-aspirated 6,208cc V8. This would fully set the octane behemoth apart from all the street-friendly GT derivatives we've met so far, which use the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 in various tunes.

Then again, a Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is a more likely candidate for the future of the model, but that's another story for another time.
