Road-Legal Mclaren P1 GTR Has Ridiculous Parking Issues in Los Angeles

As any common sense-using aficionado can imagine, motorsport machines will make you regret unleashing them on public roads once you have to face serious traffic or park. Even so, there are plenty of wealthy owners who ignore these issues and the 2016 way of trying to find a way around such problems has a name: the road-legal McLaren P1 GTR.

With Woking's just-as-British longtime racing partner Lanzante Motorsport handling the conversions, street-prepped P1 GTRs started showing up all over the world earlier this year.

We're here to show you the latest such hypercar, namely a Yellow machine packing Red stripes. The 986 hp beast has recently been unloaded in Los Angeles, with the episode demonstrating how ridiculous driving such a machine on the road can get.

California's steep access paths are the main enemy of the beast, as you'll be able to notice in the piece of footage at the bottom of the page.

While we're at it, we'll remind you the P1 GTR, be it street-legal or not, is no longer the fastest Mac on the street. That title has been grabbed by the P1 LM, which made its debut at last month's Goodwood Festival of Speed.

For instance, if the massive fixed wing on the GTR seems imposing, keep in mind that the LM ups the ante on the downforce front by a whopping 40 percent. The British land missile also grabbed the street car record on the Goodwood Hillclimb, and yet a Time Attacked-prepped Subaru Impreza WRX STI (of course) took the overall record for the tight 1.12-mile course.

P.S.: At least as far as McLaren is concerned, the LM means the P1 has reached its final form, so if you're seeking the next big thing in the hybrid hypercar realm, perhaps the LaFerrari Aperta should be your target.
