Porsche chose to reinvent the sportscar by adding some GT flavor in the 70’s. Porsche built the 928 between 1978 and 1995. Needless to say, it was a very successful car for the Germans, even though it didn’t manage to replace the 911 like it was intended to.
In 1983 it even held the title of the fastest car sold in the US, with a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h). With such numbers, it’s only natural that it also got some screen time, most notably in the 1983 movie Risky Business.
In the movie, a Chicago teenager is looking for some... fun while his parent are out of town, but the situation quickly get out of hand. The 928 does a bit of road racing, running from a... pimp’s car, and eventually ends up in the water as Lana puts down the handbrake.
Now the car driven by Tom Cruse in the movie is going up for auction and is expected to fetch a pretty penny from under the hammer on July 30th. This 928 was originally painted green but was re-sprayed gold on the movie set.
