We always thought that designing tiny cars with low carbon footprints and 9-inch alloy wheels was a Japanese thing, but the Swiss design house and tuning company Rinspeed has revealed yet another one of their strange machines.
The last one was a smart fortwo six-wheeler, and compared to that, the MicroMAX seems a bit more normal, but only a bit.
As is usually the case with crazy idea, this one came from Rinspeed’s boss Frank Rinderknecht, who thinks this is the best way to combine personal and private transportation into one vehicle.
The boxy vehicle is only 3.6 meters long, about the same as a Fiat 500, but it’s 2.2 meters tall. To put that into perspective, we’ll just say that only the bigger SUVs are taller than a man.
The extra space can be put to good use, however, as the interior can seat up to five people and can carry a whole refrigerator, coffee maker or even a shopping cart. That’s all fine and dandy, but we’d rather pay Ikea a bit more to ship stuff than drive this thing.
We’ll have more details about the Rinspeed MicroMAX Concept as it makes its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March next year.
