Rinspeed is planning to bring more than just special vehicles to the Geneva Auto Show, as the company announced that it will use the event to introduce the “BamBoo Community” communication concept at the event.
This will be introduced as an additional development to the sun & fun Bamboo concept car. The development integrates features like an intelligent ride-share service and multiple social networks, also promoting the idea of sustainability.
“The automotive platform is intended to be integrated into the Internet connectivity of existing vehicles; all other can use it on modern smartphones. “Value added,” cleverly combined with human emotionality and the play instinct, is the key to success. The heart of the application is a savvy ride-share service (“RideSharing”), which draws upon existing social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Flickr and blogs. It brings together supply and demand – drivers and passengers - and both parties can evaluate and identify each other,” explained the press release.
The new development will include applications like “My Viewer” which will constantly measure the vehicle’s CO2 footprint, also offering other functions, such as assisting the driver in case of an accident. In addition to that, the application will evaluate the driving style in ecological terms, allowing drivers to compare themselves to others in an online competition.
autoevolution will be attending the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, so stay tuned for some real up close and personal shots of the vehicles, as well as for first-hand details of the motorized contraptions presented at the event.
