Rinspeed Creates iChange, the First 1-2-3-Seater Car

Rinspeed, one of the craziest tuners ever to be seen on the face of the Earth, has now come up up with a new contraption called the “iChange”. The constructor calls it a 1-2-3-seater with "trick-tail" and it will unveil the new vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show held between the 5th and 15th of March 2009.

The thing with this fancy name is that the car has a flexible body, meaning that it adapts to the number of passengers inside. It can do so by being featured with an “electronic trick-tail” that raises and lowers depending on how many occupants are in it.

When the tail is at its most streamlined position, the car can seat one person but, if you suddenly decide to take two of your friends with you, the “rear end will rise as if by magic” (according to the producer) and the two can sit inside.

With this concept, Rinspeed boss, Frank M. Rinderknecht and his partners aim to give the automakers different visions of the versatility of the automotive industry. “Thinking about variability and the constantly changing energy demand, we have created an extremely flexible vehicle.”

The iChange is a zero-emission vehicle that features low weight and aerodynamic drag, while reducing energy consumption.

“If we want to preserve our individual mobility in the future, we have to re-think our conception of cars - above all we need to accommodate the ecological aspects” said Frank M. Rinderknecht.
