The Rimac Concept_One, is probably the fastest electric vehicle one can drive legally on the road, in the world. It reaches 100 km/h (62 mph) two tenths under three seconds, before topping out at a un-EV-esque 305 km/h (190 mph). The car will debut at the Salon Privé, an event held in Hyda Park, London, from September 5 to 7, where it will be shown to the public in detail.
It is currently the only ‘EV hypercar’ that we know of, and it would genuinely challenge, and probably beat, most conventionally-powered rivals, because powerful EVs are extremely quick, as this EV M3 proves - the Rimac is twice as powerful as the BMW, at 1,088 hp. However, unlike most EVs, which run out of juice way too soon, the Concept_One has an outstanding maximum range, of 596 km (373 miles), thanks to its 92 kWh battery pack.

The company’s CEO, 24 year-old Croatian, Mate Rimac, said ‘We started with a blank sheet of paper. The idea was to create an exceptional supercar with a new propulsion concept. What we have here is a fully-fledged hypercar that is as powerful as a Bugatti, as stylish as a Ferrari, and as luxurious as a Mercedes, all while managing to forsake even the tiniest sip of gasoline.’ We can’t wait to see it in action, and driven as it should!
