Rieju Is Back in the Pedelec Business

It's "back-to-the-future time" for the Spanish OEM Rieju, as they announce reintroducing pedelecs in their product range. Fear not, their fun small-displacement motorcycles line-up is still in production, and both bikes and pedelecs will be sold in parallel.

Rieju teamed up with Italian bicycle specialists Atala and are equipped with Bosch central-mount motors. They are proper pedelecs as they retain the gear system one expects to find on a traditional bike. This means that riders will be able to use them in a wide range of scenarios, and they will not be quasi-unusable in case the batteries run out.

With dozens of gears at their disposal, riders will be able to compensate the extra bulk the battery and the motor bring, and this type of functionality may be a strong selling point for the new Rieju pedelecs.A city bike complemented by a trekking one and three MTBs
Rieju's nee offer comprises a city bike, a trekking one and no less than three mountain bikes for those who enjoy wilder rides. All models come with lightweight aluminium frames and their motors can be had in both Active and Performance trims.

The battery packs store 400 Wh and are capable of providing up to 175 km (109 miles) of pedal assistance in the Eco mode. Eco is the mellowest assistance mode, and three more modes are also selectable for off-roading or speed. The city and trekking models come with luggage racks that add even more to the practicality of these bikes, while being able to choose between male, female or unisex frames is also a plus.

The mountain bikes are the MRT Cross, MRT Racing and the MRT Pro, with Performance Bosch motors, and are equipped with Suntour and Rock Sock suspensions. The Pro version comes with Suntour Epixon T RL-R forks and Suntour Raidon R rear monoshock.

Prices range from €2,299 to €3,399, the equivalent of $2,495-$3,690. Availability to be detailed soon, but you can always ask your nearest Rieju dealer about these pedelecs.
