Rieju UK announces the imminent release of Realrider, an phone app dedicated to help the riders in need, in case they are involved in a crash. The app will be offered for free with every Rieju motorcyle.
Realrider operates a GPS route tracker via the smartphone, determining when and where a rider has suffered a crash. It will then convey location data to emergency services and signals tthe precise position so that the nearest response team can reach the site of the accident and offer assistance.
This application also contains several other modules: REALsocial, connecting riders, racers, friends and enthusiasts, REALroutes adding info on maps, record, allowing users to share and compare rides in real time, and REALbenefit, with discounts on the best biking products.
We are not sure yet how can the smartphone detect a crash, save for using a threshold G-force detected by the accelerometer. We'll dig deeper into this and be back with more info. The Rieju Realrider app is $7.45 (€5.80), and offered as a bonus with a new Rieju bike.
