It's luck and the absence of panic which saved the rider's hide this day... though I've met more than half a dozen riders who agreed that the fellow drained the very last drop of luck for the coming years with this stunt.
It all basically starts when the rider fails to observe the incoming red traffic light and therefore being unable to stop in time behind the white car.
What ensued seems to defy the natural order of things, but the guy manages to dodge both the cars he was riding behind, the first incoming SUV steering left in front of him and two other cars in the opposite lane.
Though a scene worthy of a new Matrix movie, this only shows how stupid are the mistakes riders sometimes make.
