Well, as out of the blue and inexplicable this crash might look like, we've got a very simple explanation which seems to be the solution for a lot of accidents like this one. Distracted driving, a thing that plagues the roads all over the world, and that often leads to dramatic consequences.
Some have been rather quick to jump in the discussion and wonder whether the rider was sober or not. This, of course, is another possibility, as operating vehicles on public roads under the influence of alcohol or drugs is not exactly a new or rare thing. However, until the police investigate the crash, we'd rather stay clear from such allegations.

While DUI remains a possibility we can't simply rule out, I'd say that the odds for distracted riding are higher. That is because a whole lot more riders are distracted by various factors while on two wheels, than those who get on their bikes drunk.

Phone calls, music, radio, scenery or even one's own thoughts can distract a rider

When it comes to factors that can shift a rider's attention off from the traffic, pretty much anything can become dangerous. A phone call, for those riding with a Bluetooth headset, or even one's deep thoughts can cause a rider's awareness to drop to dangerous levels.

Music and radio can also become a distraction factor in certain circumstances, just like the scenery has contributed to riders crashing more than once. Now, it's hard to believe that the highway had so much to offer on the visual side in this case, so that other factors may be taken into account.

The sad thing is that a man got injured and mauled his bike, thrashing his insurance record and ruining the day for the pickup truck driver while at it. Needless to say, this crash could easily be avoided. When on two wheels on a busy highway, the whole scenario can change dramatically in the blink of an eye, so it pays to stay focused all the time.
