Rider Almost Gets Taken Out By Two Cars Crashing Ahead

Some might think that highways are a safer place to ride since there are no intersections, stoplights or side streets for cars to suddenly cut you off and ruin the day. But the short clip below will show you that highways come with their own risks, and the greater speeds make it even worse.

The guy below was calmly riding his Yamaha FZ-09 on the 10-E freeway near Santa Monica, doing the speed limit when he saw the traffic ahead was almost coming to a stop. He checked his mirror and changed the lane but the driver behind him, driving a blue 1994 Toyota Corolla, failed to see what’s ahead and didn’t brake on time.

He then violently rear-ended a Camry Solara convertible, which was sent right in the path of our motorcyclist filming the entire scene. Luckily, the lane to his right empty as the car smashed into his bike and sent him in that direction.

The rider managed to control his bike as he didn’t fell off and was able to safely come to a complete stop just ahead of the accident scene. His FZ-09 ended up with a few scratches and bends as well as a broken crankcase cover, judging by the leaking oil.

Thankfully, the motorcyclist himself got away with an injured left wrist, although this scenario could have ended in a very nasty way if another vehicle was occupying the lane to his right.

And as with every such video posted here, this comes with a lesson too - while you are riding, assume something will go wrong at any time, don’t let your guard down and continuously look for clues indicating danger. For this case, multiple cars braking hard up ahead is a dead giveaway something bad is about to happen if the drivers behind are not paying attention.
