Ride That Damned Bike, Would You?

Well, I guess this is what any riders with medium off-road experience would have shouted at the star of this video, with no malice associated with the shouting, but a hefty dash of frustration, maybe.

This video however is a very good “watch and learn”, educational piece of footage. Since it’s common sense that without actually riding, there no other way to accumulate experience, I’m very happy to see that the fellow was alright, and so was his bike, which looks very much like a KLR kawasaki.

His only mistake was that he did not actually ride the bike, and preferred to try and slowly creep up the small bank. Even if he succeeded in his first attempt, he in fact barely made it.

After seeing that bikes are so much different from cars when it comes to tackling such obstacles, the fellow maybe learned that throttling steadily and charging ahead was the smarter choice. And this works for crossing streams, too, just like sectors with thick loose gravel and similar obstacles: riding faster is better than trying to slowly pass them.

With solid inertia, the bike will have passed the iffy portion and the rear tire will have already gained traction on another surface, be it barren earth or the rocky bottom of a stream. The faster they go, the more stable bikes are by themselves, but that’s one of the things which must be experienced first-hand.

Anyway, the guy gets an A+ for checking both ways before wading the stream first!
