The all-electric Renault ZOE is set to be launched in Europe and the UK in the spring of 2013. However, prospective UK buyers can now reserve an example, by making a deposit of £49. With a starting price of £13,500, for the base model, after the deduction of the government grant, the ZOE is a very attractive proposition indeed, and it should be a hit with all green city drivers, once it’s launched.
Renault say it has a maximum range of 210 km (130 miles) on a single charge, yet the real world figure is more likely to be less than half that, in rear-world conditions and cold weather. It is powered by a 90 hp electric motor, which also has an impressive torque figure of 220 Nm, ensuring that the car is nippy enough for in-town driving. It can also be taken on short highway trips, as while it may have a limited top speed, that speed is 135 km/h (84 mph), which makes the endeavor perfectly legal in Europe.
An exact launch date has not yet been set, but Renault will definitely start promoting it more, and bring it more into the lime-light, closer to the actual date, and hopefully they will provide a few for test drives, prior to the launch, as we are very eager to get behind the wheel of one.
