Reports Say Barrichello Inked One-Year Deal with Williams

Despite the recent denial made by Rubens Barrichello's manager regarding the possibility of his client joining Williams F1 Team in 2010, several media reports in Brazil today reported that their countryman has already inked a one-year deal with the Grove based team for the upcoming season.

Both Globo television and the Folha de S.Paulo newspaper – media with strong insight into Formula One action – revealed that all has been settled between the two parties and that Barrichello will have GP2 champion Nico Hulkenberg as a teammate next year. According to the same sources, the F1 veteran will also benefit from a significant pay raise as compared to what he's currently earning at Brawn.

While we're yet to find out how much the Brazilian driver will earn per year with Frank Williams, it is suspected that the deal includes a one-year extension option to be picked by the British team in case they are happy with their current collaboration. In exchange, German driver Nico Rosberg will replace Barrichello at Brackley starting next season.

If the reports are true – although the British outfit is yet to confirm either of the two drivers for the upcoming season – Williams will become a team of opposites in F1. On the one hand, they'll have 37-year old veteran Rubens Barrichello, currently holding the world record in F1 starts, while on the other hand they'll field one of the most promising rookies in F1, Nico Hulkenberg.

As reminded to you before, Williams neither announced their 2010 lineup nor does it plan to in the near future. The team is likely to wait until early November to announce their drivers for the upcoming season, meaning after the season finale at Abu Dhabi.
