According to a report published by British publication TheWeek, Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman is “currently working on finishing the current series using footage that was filmed prior to Clarkson's exit.” But does this claim hold any water whatsoever?
As a brief reminder, Top Gear Series 22 ended abruptly after episode 7 was aired on March 8 due to the Jeremy Clarkson-Oisin Tymon fracas incident. Since the Beeb’s decision to sack JC, co-presenters Hammond and May refused to prolong their contracts.
Happily, however, Top Gear Live will continue its tour around the world, starring the same old Captain Power, Captain Slow and the Hamster, albeit using the Clarkson, Hammond and May Live moniker.
So what will happen with the remaining episodes of Top Gear S22, the ones haven’t been aired yet?
Well, the last episode of the series should have been the one in which the guys would pit three hypercars on the Top Gear test track. Yes, we refer to the McLaren P1 vs. Ferrari LaFerrari vs. Porsche 918 Spyder instrumented comparison. As for series 22’s episodes 8 and 9, every segment except for the Star in a Reasonably Priced Car and studio bits are already on tape.
If the aforementioned publication isn’t bluffing about the executive producer’s plans, then we can expect a few Top Gear adventures to be aired on BBC2. For starters, there's a comparison test between the Subaru WRXSTi and Volkswagen Golf R.
Secondly, there's a countryside drive in the MGB GT, Fiat 124 Spider and Peugeot 304 Cabriolet, as well as an hour-long challenge. Regarding the latter, it’s widely known that “the [Top Gear] trio are challenged to each purchase a second-hand SUV on the cheap and see who got the best deal. Also, Jeremy is on and off the track in a trio of luxurious limousines.” Exciting stuff, huh?

Editor’s note: to whom it may concern, the video below is “An Evening With Top Gear.” Aired on January 18, this hour-long clip shows Jeremy’s, James’ and Richard’s feelings and exceptions for the 22nd series. Three months since it aired, the Top Gear trio are no longer the assets of the British Broadcasting Corporation.
