A couple of months ago, Jaguar said it’s not going to make a crossover because their partners at Land Rover already make the best SUVs in the world. While people with supercharged Range Rovers will probably disagree with that every time they go to the pumps, there’ still something to be said about british craftsmanship.
We’ll find out if Land Rover really can make the best SUV in the world soon enough, because Autonews has just confirmed what we’ve been expecting for some time, that the new Range Rover will bow at the Paris Motor Show 2012 in little more than a month from now.

The new Range Rover will ditch the old architecture in favor of a brand new one that uses aluminum, just like the Jaguar XJ sedan. This will make it as much as 600 lbs lighter than before, which is a significant improvement. As we’ve been able to confirm with our spyshots, a long wheelbase version is coming as well. And for all those people disappointed with their current fuel economy, a plug-in hybrid is on the way.

Also coming to Paris is the new Range Rover Sport, which will also get a new platform, as well as a hybrid powertrain.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
