Renntech Upgrades the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series

It seems that the tuning world has a new favorite child, in the person of the Mercedes SL65 AMG Black Series, as we are seeing the second tuned example of the car in less than a week. Maybe it’s just the tuners' ambition to enhance a vehicle that has already received tons of attention form its creator, or maybe they noticed a niche in the market...

After Brabus released the one-off 800hp Vanish project, Mercedes-dedicated tuner Renntech offers the SL65 Black Series Performance Package 1, managing to squeeze 805 hp and 1,000 lb-ft of torque of the hypercar’s biturbo 6.0 liter V12 powerplant (the values are achieved at the crank), which offered 670 hp and 737 lb-ft of torque when it left the factory.

Renntech’s mojo includes upgraded intercooler pumps, high performance mufflers and an Engine Control Unit remap and can be yours starting from $16,390. However, the tuner “recommends” that the transmission upgrade and the limited slip differential are also ordered with the package. So, if you don’t want to blow up your gearbox or literally become a tree-hugger, you’ll have to pay extra.

We would be curious to see how such a creation handles, as putting the power to the ground isn't the factory stock SL65 Black Series's key asset.
