When AMG announced that the E 63 AMG and CLS 63 AMG facelift will only come with 4Matic all-wheel drive on the US market, there were plenty of voices arguing about how the known wow-factor given by the tail-happiness of AMGs will be lost.
Obviously, no matter how much of a sporty setup it might have, an all-wheel drive system will never offer the same amount of fun compared to the classic real-wheel drive.

On the other hand, an RWD car will never offer the same amount of grip at the drag strip compared to the AMG-tuned 4Matic, and the following video is the perfect proof for that affirmation.

Basically, the following footage is depicting a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E 63 AMG 4Matic with a RENNTech ECU tune and race gas - but otherwise completely stock – run against a number of highly respectable sports cars, including a 600 hp Nissan GT-R.

With overall power close to the S-Model version, the car is faring rather well on the drag strip, with a best quarter mile time of just 11 seconds, thus shutting up a lot of all-wheel drive haters out there.
