Venturing on the Nurburgring during one of the open-track days takes a lot of courage. It's like going hunting with people you've never met: you never know how well their aim is and whether they can tell a duck from a man wearing camouflage clothes.
Touristenfahrten means everybody with a motorized vehicle that's willing to pay the admission fee gets to drive on the famous circuit. Some people bring competent cars, some of them are even decent drivers, but most are the track equivalent of a Sunday driver: they're out for a relaxing stroll, taking in the scenery and wondering what all the haste is about.

That means that driving hard in your souped-up Mercedes-AMG GT S becomes unnecessarily dangerous, and you are better off just playing along and overtaking on the few straights that this circuit offers. Yeah, right. Like you're going to resist the temptation to go all out when you're behind the wheel of a RENNTech AMG GT S. The fact "you" are also Manuel Metzger, the winner of the ADAC Zurich 24h Race in a Mercedes-AMG GT3, doesn't help with the slowing down part either.

But the fact you're an experienced racing driver doesn't make gunning it down the track any less of a hazard. OK, so at least you don't have to worry about cars coming from behind, and you know how to handle your vehicle, but there are still plenty of people out there who have absolutely no clue what they're doing.

Just watch the clip and count how many times you cringed thinking this could go very wrong. No matter how you put it, cutting a Volkswagen Touran on the inside of a bend takes massive balls as you can never know whether that driver is paying attention, or having to break a fight between his three kids in the back. And then are the motorcycle riders. Here, Manuel is actually a bit of an unintentional douchebag as he pressures one biker into taking a grassy shortcut. Well, at least the track is clear again...
