Ever wondered what it will take to revive the Opel brand in Europe? It’s quite the desperate situation. The Astra is good but not great, the Corsa off the pace of its rivals and we always get the feeling GM’s European division has a limited marketing budged.
But how about the cars that will sell themselves - the cult vehicles they once had. And there is no Opel model that has a bigger following that the Calibra. This handsome looking concept vehicle is the Opel Enigma, a spiritual successor to the famous big coupe.

We don’t care if they call it the Calibra or the Insignia coupe, just as long as they see the wisdom of offering it, preferably as an AWD car with the same engine as the OPC model. Unfortunately, Opel is busy firing people and shutting plants, so don’t expect anything more than a facelift here and there from them until the company is reborn.

The Opel Enigma is a sportive 4-seat coupe based on the platform of the Chevrolet Camaro. This concept could be considered as an Insignia coupe, but I rather see it as the new “Calibra”. The rear is inspired by the Insignia while the side and front have design features of the Astra GTC and the Flextreme  concept,” David Cardoso told us in via email.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
