Rendering: MINI Rocketman

A while back, MINI revealed a rather interesting concept named ‘Rocketman’ a car that was supposed to be the company’s return to roots, with an even smaller hatch offering.

In the meantime, things cooled off and the Rocketman was probably put on a shelf for a while, nobody mentioning anything about it until now, when Theophilus Chin decided to do a rendering of how such a car could turn out.

His take on the MINI follows the design cues of the most recent Cooper launched by the British, with the same front grille and headlights. Around the back, the taillights are dangerously similar to the ones on the Paceman and the sole tailpipe, located in the middle of the bumper looks absolutely out of place!

While I would definitely like to see such a small car come to life, I also think MINI is taking a lot of heat lately for absolutely nothing. People think that, the Cooper Hatch for example, grew too much and some might even say that it’s not even B-Segment anymore. They’d be wrong though.

Just take a look over the numbers. The Hatch is smaller than the Renault Clio, for example, and people call that car small. Furthermore, the recently launched A1/S1 is bigger than the MINI and so is the Volkswagen Polo, so how exactly is the poor little Brit ‘too big’? Of course, we’re talking by today’s standards. The old days are long gone, get a grip!
