2017, that's the year that BMW turns 100. A centenary of premium cars, records and leading by innovation and example, that is how you could describe BMW's legacy.
What you cannot say though about the Munich based company is that they created supercars. That's because in the whole history of BMW, even though there have been a couple of cars that displayed amazing numbers and looks, there was only 1 proper supercar: the M1.

It was the offspring of a failed collaboration between BMW and Lamborghini that was supposed to introduce the Bavarian brand into the world's supercar manufacturers club.

The deal between the 2 companies was abandoned but the car kept its Giugiaro look which made it an exclusive appearance amongst BMWs. It seems natural that a new supercar could only be launched on the company's centenary.

That is why most of us are dreaming about the so-called M8. This car is supposed to be the new BMW supercar, the one to take the empty slot left by the M1. Even though some say that the Bimmer will actually be called M1, the renderings and facts suggest that the car will be based on the i8's chassis (in order to keep the weight minimal) so the M8 name seems more plausible.

Also in the "rumor box" are the specs about this new supercar. It seems that it will have a twin-turbocharged engine boasting around 600 HP on a 1500kg chassis. That means that it will be lightning fast, worthy of Hypercar status.

The guys over at Topspeed created a rendering of the highly anticipated Bimmer and decided to share it with us BMW fans. Tell us what you think.
