Last week, the Internet went up in flames when a rumor that BMW will be making a hardcore version of the i8 surfaced. It was all pretty shoddy and we were reluctant towards it at first but it sounds too good to be ignored.
Basically, that’s what we told you from the get-go: it seems like this is just a rumor meant to give fanboys satisfaction. That doesn’t stop us from picturing such a car in our heads, however. And some people went even further, drawing one.

The guys from virtuel-car.fr did a quick rendering of how such a car could look like. At first, you’ll have to squint really hard to notice the changes but once you do, that’s all you’re going to look at.

Up front there’s a subtle air splitter positioned right under the license plate, on the bumper. There’s also an M logo on one of the faux kidney grilles as well. Round the back, there’s a new diffuser as well even though exhaust pipes are missing. The final touch were the black BBS wheels that, honestly, completely change the look of the car.

What about the possible specs?

According to the initial rumors, there are two possibilities for the i8S. The first one includes a 2-liter 4-cylinder engine making around 320 HP combined with an electric motor developing 200 HP for a grand total above 500 HP.

On the other hand, we could see a 3-liter inline 6-cylinder plant used capable of 480 HP hooked up in conjunction with a 110 HP electric unit. Either way, we’re good with the numbers as the torque figure will probably go over the 500 lb-ft (680 Nm) limit on a chassis that doesn’t weigh more than a 2 Series.

Of course, it would also have all-wheel drive and the looks to kill. This rendering doesn’t even come close but it could point out that if this car is to become reality, it might be more subtle in styling than what we expect.
